Mi-171A helicopter is the latest design of Mi-171 helicopters family. It is first of all designed for employment in the civil aviation (for transportation of passengers and VIPs, cargo transportation). That is why special attention has been paid to the safety and certification.

The designer strived to provide the maximum compliance of Mi-171A helicopter structure to the requirements of FAR-29 and JAR-29 aviation regulations. In 2005 the helicopter has obtained Type Certificate Validation from Aviation register of Brazil (СТА), the requirements of which comply with FAR-29 regulations.

The platform for development of Mi-171A helicopter was the design of Mi-171 helicopter, one of the most intensively operated helicopter in its class. At that, a range of structural changes, aimed at the further increase of flight safety, were introduced on Mi-171A helicopter.
