From 24 till 26 of July, 2008 in Ulan-Ude took place VI Conference of Mi-8/Mi-171 helicopter operators, organized by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.
More than 120 representatives from different organizations and departments from 15 countries participated in this Conference. On the event were represented Russian and foreign operators of aircraft engineering, designers of helicopter and its equipment, Governmental Authority, governmental special exporter Federal state unitary enterprise “Rosoboronexport”, helicopter manufacturing holding company, affiliated companies of the plant.
First day of the Conference was devoted to public speaking and discussion of questions of helicopter operation and modernization. President and Head of Government of Republic of Buryatia Nagovitsyn V.V. opened the Conference with the complimentary speech. After that Managing Director of UUAP L.Y. Belykh opened the speaking of lecturers. Among these lecturers were not only representatives of the plant but also participants from among guests. Conference was continued by discussion of helicopter operation and modernization questions. During discussion a number of remarks and proposals was said to UUAP, to Designer of MI-8/Mi-171 helicopters JSC “Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant” and to helicopter manufacturing holding company in general. Representatives of the plant and holding company gave answers for a part of questions instantly and took another part for additional working-out.
First day was terminated by solemn dinner in the restaurant “Geser”. Discussion of operational questions started at the day-time in the conference room so much carried participants away that they continued their discussion at the solemn dinner.
Second day of the Conference began with the plant excursion. It was carried out trough plant shops and trough training center of the plant. This excursion terminated at the flight test center. There were demonstrated Mi-171 helicopters in transport, search and rescue, passenger and VIP versions, Mi-171Sh combat-transport helicopter, Su-25UTG and Su-39 attack aircrafts on the static parking area. Participants marked a large number and variation of aerotechnics, presented on the territory of flight test center.
Culmination of the second day of the Conference was Airshow. At first Su-25UBK combat trainer attack aircraft have demonstrated all its possibilities. Hero of the Russian Federation test pilot Tolboev T.O. and test pilot Averiyanov E.V. demonstrated aerial stunt, navigated aircraft.
After that guests have seen imitation of search and rescue operation with the partnership of two helicopters Mi-171 and group of rescuers of the emergency situations ministry. During “special operation” helicopters have demonstrated its possibilities in fire extinguishing, operational desembarkation of rescuers, evacuation of injured persons and evacuation of wrecked helicopter. Airshow terminated with desembarkation of parachutists group from Mi-171 helicopter.
Traditionally the third day of the Conference took place on the picturesque board of the sacred lake Baikal. There discussion of helicopter operation and modernization questions continued. However in contradistinction from first days, work at the third day took place in the nonofficial atmosphere disposed to more free exchange of opinions. All participants received not only possibility for fruitful work but they had a little bit of rest.
Thereon it was the end of the VI International Conference of Mi-8/Mi-171 helicopter operators.
